Areas of Innovation and Work
In addition to delivering conservation planning services, our staff is involved in a number of research areas in conservation planning. Many of these are carried out through our program of methodology development for NatureServe Vista and through the Ecosystem-Based Management Tools Program. These include:
- Integrating biodiversity conservation with other planning sectors such as land use and infrastructure planning and resource management
- Linking terrestrial, freshwater, and marine conservation planning and resource management (PowerPoint Document, 8.4MB)
- Sustainable forest planning
- Developing new software tools for conservation planning such as for modeling habitat connectivity
- Interoperating suites of tools for conservation planning
