SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, a long-established and well-respected non-profit conservation organization, is seeking a committed and talented conservation professional to fill its Allegheny Project Director position. The director will lead and manage a large, complex conservation project based in Ridgway, PA. Successful outcomes will hinge on building and sustaining productive relationships with community leaders, the forest industry individual landowners and public/private agencies and organizations to protect the forest landscape and the natural features within

QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree in natural resource management or similar, with significant experience in forest management and seven to ten years work experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge and activity in some combination of conservation planning, conservation biology principles, forest conservation, ecological restoration, watershed protection, community relations, public policy/administration and real estate principles is required. The successful candidate will be an articulate, passionate and persuasive communicator who is able to make alliances and gain support from a variety of stakeholders. Must be able to raise program funds from both private and public sources. Familiarity with the region desirable.
