Judy currently serves as the Senior Regional Ecologist and Project Manager at NatureServe, overseeing projects and staff related to vegetation classification, vegetation inventory, spatial modeling, vegetation mapping, and the development of online communication products. She is a contributing author to the United States National Vegetation Classification (USNVC) and International Terrestrial Ecological Systems Classification (ITESC). Recognizing the importance of making the results of scientific studies easily understood by a broad audience, Judy has recently collaborated with the National Park Service to lead the development of an interactive online guide to natural communities, ExploreNaturalCommunities.org.
Judy holds an undergraduate degree in Biology with an emphasis in Wildlife Biology and minor in Forestry, and received her Master of Science degree in Botany with an emphasis in Plant Ecology from Louisiana State University. She has more than 25 years of experience in applied aspects of conservation biology, and has attained additional graduate-level credits in Ornithology, Zoology, and Community and Regional Planning.
