Roadmap Report: October 2011
Keeping Up to Speed
In August 2010, NatureServe’s Information Systems Division launched a major upgrade of the Biotics platform. The “roadmap” for the upgrade laid out a prioritized plan for delivering the new system in incremental releases over the next three years, starting with development of the most critical components—a “critical path release.”
Software development is now in high gear, guided by the system requirements and design mockups that we established over the last year with input from the Network Technical Review Team. Use the links at right to track our progress against the Roadmap’s timeline, staffing, and revenue targets, including additional detail on the status of software development activities. The Biotics 5 component architecture is a new element to the Roadmap this quarter that provides context for reporting progress on the software development.
We’ll provide further Roadmap Reports in Network News quarterly. To follow the details more closely and participate in ongoing development activities, be sure to check out the Biotics 5 SharePoint site (members.natureserve.org > Resources tab > Biotics5 Development) and set your alerts to notify you of activity on the site. (Refer to the SharePoint User Guide for assistance on setting and managing alerts.)
