Leah Oliver is a Senior Research Botanist for NatureServe. Her primary role is researching the drivers of rarity and imperilment for the purpose of evaluating species’ conservation status and other conservation data metrics. She has more than 20 years of experience working with NatureServe’s network botanists in all areas of Natural Heritage methodology. Recently her interests and research have focused on bioinformatics, and especially how taxonomy influences conservation outcomes. She develops and contributes to many projects, but wild-collected and internationally traded medicinal plants such as American Ginseng, Goldenseal, Trillium and others is one group of particular interest to her. Leah is a member of the North American Plant Red List Authority, and the IUCN Medicinal Plant Specialist Group.
