Tailoring Evidence Into Action: Using a Codesign Approach for Biodiversity Information in the Tropical Andes
bioRxiv

Researchers from iDiv and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, in collaboration with partners in the Tropical Andes, have unveiled a groundbreaking approach. They engaged over 400 local stakeholders in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador to co-design biodiversity indicators that genuinely matter to them. This inclusive process amplified underrepresented voices and led to scalable conservation solutions aligned with local needs and values. In a time of mounting biodiversity threats, with NatureServe’s involvement, this study demonstrates the power of participatory processes in striking a critical balance between conservation needs and community priorities.
